NOTE: I tore down the whole set after a few months and plan to mount it on a table once Laura and I re-finish our basement (so in essence this page is just to show off what I had set up several years ago)
Took a headlong dive back into my childhood when I bought this beauty on eBay on 12/20/04 -- $41 plus $9.90 shipping. It arrived two days before Christmas.
Here's the eBay description:
"A COOL Tyco Lamborghini Racing Set. This set comes with all 60 feet track and what looks to be all the railing pieces. The risers are there and the controllers. There is only one racing car but everything else is there and in really good shape. Get a couple more cars and watch the kids race for hours and hours. We remember playing with slot car racers on Christmas morning and it is one of our fondest memories. This is a really neat set. Bid today before its gone! Condition: Great Condition!!"
And it is pretty sweet. Made by Tyco in 1993. On Christmas Eve~day I added a white with purple trim Tomy
AFX #9202 Jaguar XJR-9, with a Super G-Plus chassis ($21.99 from a local hobby shop), and began burning up the track ;)
Then on 1/8/05 I bought another Tomy car -- this one a black AFX #9871 Super G-Plus Mercedes with circuit board design. Very fast.
The previous week I found a cool "loop~the~loop" set of Tyco track at an online hobby shop I Googled:
Oak Ridge
Hobbies in Downers Grove, IL...
Got (and added) it on 1/11/05 -- the layout's getting pretty phenomenal for just getting back into it.
On 1/10/05 I won another eBay auction, this time for a complete boxed Tyco "TR-X 4-Car Team Racing" set,
with another 13 1/2 feet of track (mostly for future replacement), four cars and all accessories. $28.09
with shipping.
